Prius Family Will Bolster Toyota Sales for 2012

Jimmy Vasser Toyota doesn't feel consumers need much pushing and prodding in order to be convinced that the Toyota Prius or any of its kin are the right vehicles to buy. Then again, a little extra incentive couldn't hurt. It seems as though that's what the Japanese government is thinking too. In order to promote sales of the gas-electric Prius family, the automaker's home country is offering incentives to car buyers.

Let's take the Prius hatchback for example. Japanese consumers who purchase the model at its starting price of 2.17-million yen will receive up to 135,500 yen in tax breaks and 100,000 yen in rebates. In addition to fiscal motivation, the automaker also believes the introduction of the Toyota Prius Aqua will bolster sales at home as well. Already the Aqua, dubbed the Prius c in the U.S., has seen high demand. Since the model was first offered only a few months ago, Toyota has received somewhere around 100,000 orders.

Taking these two factors into consideration, company officials have increased their sales global sales predictions for the year 2012. Marking a 21-percent annual increase, Toyota expects to sell 8.58-million vehicles worldwide. This target number is 100,000 higher than what the automaker projected only last month.

If you ask us, Jimmy Vasser Toyota holds the highest confidence in the Japanese automaker's ability to fulfill its sales predictions. Perhaps that's because we've seen what Toyota is capable of and personally experienced the innovation found in each new Toyota model.
